Why did we develop PISA?
A very warm welcome to Pensmith International STEM Academy. The decision to develop PISA was out of a desire to prepare our children for the future. Prepare, them with the skills they need not to survive but thrive in our increasingly globalized and changing world.
It is difficult to imagine the future jobs that may exist for students in schools today. What is clear is that for these careers there is a greater need for soft skills alongside an emphasis for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) to thrive in our ever-changing 21st Century world.
21st Century Skills
21st Century skills must integrate the core skills that we apply to everyday tasks, an understanding of English, Maths, Science, ICT, and Finance. We believe we must develop critical thinking and problem solving skills, creativity, communication and collaboration skills, as it is these competencies that help us approach complex problems that face the world. Finally, to thrive in our changing environment we believe we must instill the character qualities of curiosity, initiative, persistence, adaptability, leadership and social and cultural awareness.

For security and safety, our campus is a closed campus and access to each area of the campus only by key card. Students have access to maintained gardens as well as playground areas for sports and relaxation. At the school entrance, we have a large all-weather sports area marked out for a range of sports. We have a purpose-built play area for kindergarten students.
We have designed our learning spaces with 21st Century learning in mind. These spaces consist of learning areas for whole class or small group collaboration, alongside breakout areas for individual work.
These spaces are designed to support multi-disciplinary, cross curricula projects which include for example : English, Art, Design, Programming, Computing, Engineering, Science, Maths, and Humanities. Technology is seamlessly integrated into these spaces, with laptops/tablets on hand to complement and enhance the curriculum. The classrooms are equipped with interactive whiteboards as well as LCD TVs that are linked via computers to both the school intranet and the Internet.
The campus has an all-weather futsal pitch, a multi-purpose surface designed for a range of outdoor sports, basketball and fitness activities and a 25-metre outdoor swimming pool, and adjoining smaller pool for our kindergarten students.
Food and Drink Provision
Our school has a dedicated canteen area and snack shop, which offers a wide range of healthy snacks, before school and at our two break times during the day.
